Scope and content

Photograph of a fully clothed man floating on his back in a pool. The name “Zell” is written on the negative and is visible at the top of the image. The man may be Portland Breakfast Club member Julius Zell, and the photograph may have been taken at the club’s annual midsummer party at the farm of Aaron M. Frank on August 27, 1935. An Oregon Journal story about the party reported that R. R. Adams, a new initiate to the club, had pulled Zell, fully clothed, into the pool with him during the initiation ritual. See image No. 372A0899.
