Camp Watson. Oregon.

A pencil drawing of Camp Watson, Oregon dated 1865. There are several log buildings at the base of a hill. An American flag is raised on a pole in a clearing to the right of the drawing. Several people are gathered around a stage coach in the lower, left side. The inscription on the back of the drawing reads, “Wheeler + Mary Kerr [?], owners of stage.” The First Regiment Oregon volunteer Cavalry maintained Camp Watson from 1864 to 1869 during the conflict with members of the Bannock, Shoshoni, and Paiute peoples known as the Snake War.
