They are holding an Oldfield tire. The name “Oldfield, Barney” is written on the negative sleeve. The photograph was probably taken in January 1920, when Oldfield visited Portland on business and stopped at Fletcher & James, a distributor of Oldfield tires. See related image No. 373G0151.
