Biographical history

Rev. Dr. LeRoy Haynes, Jr. (1949- ) serves with honor as the Senior Pastor of Allen Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Portland, Oregon, and Presiding Elder of the Alaska & Oregon/Washington Districts (includes: OR, WA, AK, and ID), in the Alaska-Pacific Region of the 9th Episcopal District. He is Vice President of the Albina Ministerial Alliance (AMA) in Portland and chair of the AMA Coalition for Justice and Police Reform. He has served as President of the Ecumenical Ministry of Oregon. He was a Youth Organizer for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (S.C.L.C.) in Southeast Texas, a Field Organizer for The Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in Texas, and a co-organizer of the Black Panther Party (BPP) in the state of Texas. Rev. Haynes earned a B.A. from the University of North Texas, a Master's of Theology from Perkins School of Theology, and a Doctor of Ministry from Brite Theological Seminary.
