Photograph showing R. G. Barnett (left) shaking hands with Gordon J. Malone. A cropped print of this photograph in the Oregon Journal photographs collection (Org. Lot 1027, Box 4, folder 32) is stamped with the date May 3, 1945, and has the following caption information: “LEADERS at a two-day conference of Oregon-Washington gas company executives opened here this morning are: R. G. Barnett, vice president and general manager of Portland Gas & Coke company (left), and Gordon J. Malone, Evansville, Ind., representing Servel, Inc. Malone, originator of the ‘Servel Plan’ to create more jobs for ex-service men and women and to keep business moving in volume after the war, opened the conference at the Portland Gas copany's [sic] hospitality house in the Public Service building.” The number 5004 is written on the negative and is faintly visible in the upper right corner of the image.
