Biographical history

Randall B. Kester was born in Vale, Oregon in 1916. He grew up in Ontario, Oregon and attended Willamette University in Oregon and Columbia Law School in New York (1937-1940). He worked for Maguire Shields & Morrison Law Firm. He served on numerous bar committees, and became president of the Multnomah Bar Association. He participated as amici curiae on the Yasui case during World War II. He served on the Oregon Supreme Court 1957-1958, became General Solicitor for the Union Pacific Railroad 1958, and resumed partnership with Maguire, Shields, Morrison, Bailey & Kester, and became senior counsel for Union Pacific 1979. He was active in numerous civic organizations, including the City Club, United Good Neighbors, Oregon Symphony, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), Portland Zoological Society, World Forestry Center, Board of Trustees for Willamette University. He received many awards for service in the legal profession. He died in 2012.
