Elizabeth R. Davis, born in 1816 in Tennessee, who married Samuel L. Nelson in 1839 in Washington County, Illinois. They came across the plains to Oregon in 1852 from Hannibal, Missouri. He was a physician and they settled on a donation land claim on Mt. Tabor, in East Portland. He died in Portland in February of 1888.
