The following text is printed on the invitation: “Ceremony of Laying the Corner Stone / OF THE / NEW STATE CAPITOL. / The Committee of Arrangements respectfully solicit the honor of your presence, at the Ceremony of Laying the Corner Stone of the New State Capitol, / In Salem, Oregon. Wednesday, the Eighth day of October, Eighteen Hundred and Seventy-Three. / L. F. Grover / GOVERNOR. / Committee of Invitations. / John F. Miller, Henry Klippel, Samuel Allen.” Below that is the emblem of the Committee of Arrangements between two columns of names. The names in the left column are: “Joseph Holman. / George W. Gray. / Warner Breyman. / B. F. Brown. / John H. Moores. / A. J. Monroe. / R. C. Kinney.” The names in the right column are: “J. J. Murphy. / S. Durbin. / John W. Gilbert. / John Wright. / J. W.
