Legacy collection records indicate that the children on the left may be named Ira and Henry, while the girl leaning on the table may be named Emily, who became a teacher at Portland Central High and died of tuberculosis at age 24. Their father was likely Erasmus D. Shattuck, who served on the Oregon Supreme Court from 1866-1867. The image of the girl on the right was previously named: OrgLot1414_0244S009. Case is made of leather and wood.

Susannah Rogers Whipple, who married Rev. Daniel Bagley on August 15, 1840. She was born in 1819, raised in Massachusetts, and died in Seattle in 1913. Their son was Clarence B. Bagley.

William Henwood (Henry?) Pope, son of Capt. Seth Pope, and brother to Seth Luen. He was born April 11, 1839, in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. He traveled to Oregon with his brother via Cape Horn, arriving on May 1, 1854, and settled in Columbia County as a merchant.

The man wears a dark suit with a bow tie. The woman wears a dark dress with a white lace collar and full sleeves with dropped epaulets. Both of the portraits are copies of earlier daguerreotypes. The conservator's notes for the portrait of the woman indicates that the name "Corduan & Co. N. Y." is printed in reverse under the matting at the top of the plate.
