Portland house, 67 Shaver Street, where A. W. Norblad was sworn in as governor of Oregon

Photograph showing the exterior of the house at 67 Shaver Street (now North Shaver Street) where A. W. Norblad took the oath of office as governor of Oregon on Sunday, December 22, 1929. Norblad, president of the Oregon Senate, succeeded Governor Isaac L. Patterson after he died of pneumonia on December 21, 1929. According to an Oregon Journal story on Monday, December 23, 1929, the Shaver Street house was the home of Norblad's sister, brother-in-law, and mother. Oregon Humane Society removing cats from Portland home

A house, most likely at 1436 S.W. Taylor Street in Portland. An Oregon Humane Society vehicle is parked in front of the house, in order to remove seventeen ex-alley cats after the death of their owner, Mrs. Bessie Sweet. A photograph from this series was published in the Oregon Journal on Saturday, March 26, 1949 (negative 2 of 7).
