The unconfirmed note “Marylhurst College students 3/17/44” is written on the negative sleeve. Marylhurst College, located in Marylhurst, Oregon, became Marylhurst University in 1998.

The person at center, who may be Colleen Carroll, is having a cap placed on her head and a pin fastened to her smock by the women on either side of her, who are unidentified. The photograph had the following caption: “CAPPING CEREMONY for these 12 Red Cross volunteer nurse’s aides, members of Marylhurst college’s first class, was held in the college auditorium.
