Cased photograph featuring a portrait of a baby lying down and wearing a dress, looking up and to the left of the camera. Handwritten note affixed to the back of the case indicates this is likely William Alexander Lee. The note reads, "Wm Alexander Lee; Fair Haven, Conn. Nov. 10, 1856 - (Tacoma?) Seattle, Wash. 1935. Son of Rev. Wm B. Lee & Elizab. Payson (Howe) Lee." Case is made of wood and pressed paper. Case cover was replaced with archival board during conservation.

A printed map of the western portions of Canada. Colors show the geological divisions of cristalline rocks, silurian formation of Hudson's B. & L. Winnipeg, devonian formation, and lignite or coal formation. The map also includes profiles of routes for the Pacific railroad, from St. Pauls, Mississippi to Puget Sound; from mouth of Kansas River, to Fort Vancouver, Columbia River; from Council Bluff, Missouri, to San Francisco, Pacific Ocean; and from Westport to the River Savier Utah. The map also includes informational tables on the "Indian Population of British North America, "French Canadian Forts at time of the Conquest," and a "Hyetal or Rain Table." Relief is shown by hachures.

Case contains 2 photographs. On the left is a portrait of a woman, seated and wearing a dress with a white collar. On the right is a portrait of a man, wearing a suit. Typed label enclosed with the images reads, "George C. Cook, Mrs. George C. Cook." Legacy collection records indicate these images may have been taken at the time of their wedding, circa 1857. Case is union case made of thermoplastic.

Cased photograph featuring a portrait of a woman seated at a table. She wears a hat and a flowing, printed dress. A vase filled with flowers sits on the table. She looks at the camera. Typed note enclosed with the image reads, "Miss Icilia May Anderson, pioneer, 1852. Taken, 1857. Organist Taylor st. (First) M. E. Ch. 1862-68. Mar'd C. W. Sears, '74, rem'd to Albany, '80. She died in 1923." Case is made of leather and wood.

Sylvia M. Marshall, who married Julius M. Keeler, a teacher in early Portland and Forest Grove. They had one surviving son, Percival Keeler, who was born in 1853 in Oregon, and was a bookkeeper in San Francisco in 1880. She died in 1858 in Napa, California.

A handwritten caption on the back of the photograph reads, "Portland, 1857. West side of First Street, between Yamhill and Morrison, showing the foundry owned by Monnastes & David, and the Union Hotel."

An ambrotype portrait of a young child identified as C. H. Ramsay. They are seated in a chair wearing a light colored dress with white stripes along the hem and sleeves. Conservator notes document an inscription in pen found on the assembly backing which reads, "C. H. Ramsay, Aug. 11, 1857, 2y&4 months." Legacy collection records indicate that this photograph is part of the David T. Mason MSS collection. The photograph is housed in a metal frame with gold matting.

Cased photograph featuring a portrait of photographer Joseph Buchtel and his daughter. Buchtel stands next to his daughter, holding a watch up to her face. The girl is seated and wears her hair in braids. Both look to the right of the camera. Handwritten note affixed to the case reads, "Joseph Buchtel and daughter." Legacy collection records indicate this is likely his daughter Lucy. Case is missing its cover.

Conser & Sons Flour & Feed, Metzger & Buch., and the Globe Hotel. There are several horses with carts and wagons on the dirt street in front of the buildings and several men stand in front of the buildings. A handwritten note on the front of the photograph reads, "The Dalles, 1864." A handwritten note on the back of the photograph reads, "From Mrs. S. A. Brown, 1830. Lorenzo Lorain photo, 1856."
Image note: Lorain was not longer in Oregon in 1864. If Lorain was the photographer, this image was likely taken in 1856-1857.

Reverend Lewis Hubbell Judson, pioneer of 1840. One of the reinforcements of the Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Judson is said to have arrived on the sailing vessel 'Lausanne' in 1840. He was born in New York, settled in Marion County, and died in Salem in 1880.

Cased photograph featuring a portrait of a young woman posing with her head in hand. Her elbow is propped on 2 stacked books. The spine of the book on the bottom reads, "Family Encyclopedia." Her earrings have been tinted. A receipt from R. L. Edmonston Photo-Copying Agency in Altoona, Pennsylvania was enclosed with the image. It states that Miss H. E. Pribble from Freeport, West Virginia ordered a reproduction of the image in 1930. This receipt has been removed and stored in a separate folder. Legacy collection records indicate this was taken circa 1850 - 1858. Case is made of leather. Case cover missing and replaced with archival board during conservation.

Reverend W. S. Lewis (1827-1865), pioneer of 1852, and his wife, Julia (Pierce)(1830-1904). They married Sept. 20, 1849, in Logan, Ohio. Lewis was a Minister of the Taylor St. Methodist Episcopal Church from 1858-59 and was active in the Methodist community in early Oregon. They had four children: Alice (m. Parkhurst) (1852-1916), William, Frank Parrish (1860-1912), and Julia Emma (1863-1942).
