The photograph was taken at Sixth and Morrison in Portland on Monday, May 16, 1921, during a reception for Dean and others who were in town to film a movie. A cropped version of this photograph was published on Page 2 of the Oregon Journal on Tuesday, May 17, 1921, with the headline “Screen Beauty Wins Hearty Welcome.” The photograph had the following caption: “Priscilla Dean, noted motion picture player, was officially welcomed to Portland before thousands of spectators, who, on Monday, saw Mayor Baker present to the star the city’s floral master key.
