The photograph is an ambrotype but my be a copy of a daguerreotype portrait.

Cased photograph featuring a portrait of Samuel Asahel Clarke, also known as S. A. Clarke. A handwritten note enclosed with the image reads, "S. A. Clarke, 25 years old, born 1828." A typed note enclosed with the image reads, "CLARKE, Samuel A. 25 years old." The words, "McIntyre, Broadway, NY" are stamped into the brass window mat. Case is made of leather.

Cased photograph of the steamboat Multnomah in dock. Several crew members pose on the decks of the ship and on the dock. Handwritten label enclosed with the image reads, "Str. Multnomah." Legacy collection records indicate this dock was located at the foot of Alder Street in Portland, Oregon. The Multnomah operated on the Willamette and Yamhill Rivers. Case is made of wood and leather.

Cased photograph showing an exterior view of the D. C. Coleman store, located on the southeast corner of Oak and Front Street in Portland, Oregon. Several men stand in front of the store and 2 men shake hands near the front door. This was one of the first brick buildings constructed in Portland. Legacy collection records indicate this photograph was taken in 1853, the same year the building was constructed. Image has been removed from case and placed in archival board case.

Wholesale Dealers." Other signs on the building advertise various goods such as boots, nails, crockery and powder. George Abernethy was the Provisional Governor of Oregon in the 1840's. Legacy collection records indicate this may be the first brick building built in the state of Oregon. Records also speculate that the photographer may have been either Joseph Buchtel, who had a photo studio on the second floor of the building in 1857, or Holland and Day, who had a photo studio across the street in 1858. Case is made of wood and leather.

Legacy records indicate that he is associated with the Taylor family. The photograph has been cut down to fit within a wood and leather case. A pencil note on the the interior of the case back was documented during conservation work on the item. It reads, "Dear George [illegible]."

Cased photograph featuring a portrait of 2 men and 2 women on a cliff in front of Niagara Falls. The 2 women are seated in the middle while the 2 men stand on either side of them. Handwritten note on the envelope reads, "Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Atkinson at Niagra (sic) Falls in 1865." A second, typed note reads, "Atkinson went East for the first time in the 1850's, but Mrs. Atkinson did not go with him. They both went East in 1865; from NY to Joliet, Ill, and back to NY via Dartmouth College, in New Hampshire. Probably visited Niagara Falls on this trip. So 1865 seems to be the right date for this photo." [Collection records do not indicate which couple are the Atkinsons. The second couple is unidentified.] Case is missing and has been replaced with archival board.

Typed note affixed to the inside of the case reads, "Mrs. Anna Johnson Sylvester, Pioneer of 1858, Taken in Portland in 1866." Notes in legacy collection records speculate this photograph may have been taken by Joseph Buchtel. Case is a book-style case made of leather.

Legacy collection records indicate this is Reverend C. F. Weaver. Photographer's studio label on the back of the photograph indicates this was taken by C. F. Lamb in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
