Girl holds up sign indicating number of strawberry crates picked

Twelve-year-old Elva Montelongo from Dayton, Oregon holds up a handwritten sign reading, "9 1/2 crates strawberries, Elva." She works in the field with her family, picking strawberries. These 9 1/2 crates earned her family $5.70. Photographs from this series were published in the Valley Migrant League's Opportunity News on August 27, 1965.

Newberg Farmeroo parade

The Newberg Farmeroo parade in downtown Newberg. A man pulls a float using a small tractor, crossing under a banner that reads “Welcome, Newbery Farmeroo.” A crowd lines either side of the street as other parade participants can be seen in the distance. Photographs from this series were published in the Oregon Journal on Sunday, August 9, 1953 (negative 10 of 12).
