Photograph album of aerial photographs taken by Brubaker Aerial Surveys of Portland, Or. of the Pacific coasts of Oregon and Washington, circa 1926-1939. The photographs begin at Willapa Bay and Long Beach, Wash. and continue south to Brookings, Or. and the mouth of the Chetco River. Includes aerial views of the Columbia River, Cannon Beach, Coos Bay, Heceta Head, Neahkahnie Mountain, the Nehalem River, the Nestucca River, Netarts Bay, the Rogue River, the Umpqua River, Yaquina Head and the Oregon towns of Astoria, Bandon, Coquille, De Lake, Florence, Gearhart, Gold Beach, Newport, Rockaway Beach, Port Orford, Seaside, Tillamook, Toledo, Waldport, and Yachats, among many other places.

Construction of the Umpqua River jetty, Reedsport, Or. photograph album

Album 453 was created between 1933 and 1947 and contains photographs of the construction of the Umpqua River jetties in Reedsport, Oregon. The north jetty was constructed in 1919 and reconstructed in 1947. The south jetty was constructed in 1934 and 1935. Album 453 includes at least one aerial photograph by Brubaker Aerial Surveys and at least two photographs taken by John Stilanos.

The images depict the damage to buildings, bridges, roadways, and other structures in both Vanport and Portland, Or. Photographs related to agriculture, horticulture, and animals from approximately 1920 - 1945. The bulk of the photographs depict people, animals, and scenes at fairs and livestock shows, probably the Multnomah County Fair in Gresham, Oregon, and the Pacific International Livestock Exposition in Portland, Oregon. Other images depict topics such as cats, dogs, wild birds, poultry, and Tusko the elephant; farms and farmland; flowers, flower shows, and gardens.

Religion, faith, and worship

Photographs, circa 1920 to 1940, of people, places, objects, and activities related to religion, faith, and worship, predominantly Christian. Approximately half the images are portraits of clergy and places of worship, some of which are unidentified. The photographs also document events and activities, including the Marian Congress, held in Portland from August 12-15, 1934, at the Sanctuary of Our Sorrowful Mother (The Grotto) in Portland; processions at St. Mary's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, both in Portland; and baptism ceremonies in the Columbia River.

Photographs, circa 1923 to 1936, of people and activities related to arts; entertainment; the Portland Rose Festival; and other community events, performances, and ceremonies. Arts-oriented images include portraits of dancers and musicians, primarily children, as well as photographs of actors, actresses, and theatrical productions or rehearsals. Photographs of the Portland Rose Festival include activities and portraits of festival queens and princesses. This series also includes photographs of parades and circus performers and performances.

Wartime industry, activities, and events

Photographs related to industrial, patriotic, and civil defense activities and events in Portland, Oregon during World War I and World War II. The bulk of these photographs were taken from 1942 to 1945 and depict people and activities at the Albina Engine & Machine Works shipyard. Other photographs document troops marching in a War Activities parade in April 1918; a visit by Charles M. Schwab and Charles Piez of the Emergency Fleet Corporation in July 1918; and a ceremony to present an Army-Navy "E" Award for wartime production to an unidentified organization between 1942 and 1945.
