Cased photograph featuring a portrait of a bearded man wearing a suit with a paisley waistcoat. His hair is parted on the left. Collection records indicate this is Birt Hashburn and that this image was taken circa 1862. Case is made of pressed leather and wood. Case cover replaced with archival board during conservation.

Portrait of an unidentified man in a Civil War uniform, Taylor family

A cartes-de-visite photograph of an unidentified man in a Civil War uniform. He stands with his left hand tucked into the front of his jacket and looks directly at the camera. Legacy records indicate that he is associated with the Taylor family. The photograph has been cut down to fit within a wood and leather case. A pencil note on the the interior of the case back was documented during conservation work on the item. It reads, "Dear George [illegible]."

Uncased tintype featuring a group portrait of 8 men gathered around a table, drinking beers and smoking pipes. Two wear military uniforms. Handwritten note on the sleeve reads, "Tentative ID: Center Back: Ex-Col. Reuben F. Maury, 1st Oregon Cavalry, at right, in uniform Lt. D. C. Underwood & Lt. F. B. White." [These 3 men are also pictured in an article titled, "The First Oregon Cavalry and the Oregon Central Military Road Survey of 1865," published in the Oregon Historical Quarterly (Vol. 60, No. 1, p. 94).]

The woman sits on the right, wearing a dress with a white collar. Her hands rest in her lap. Their cheeks are tinted pink. Legacy collection records indicate they may be members of the Gordon family. Case is a union case made of thermoplastic. The case cover is missing.

Patton, Lillian Estelle

Lillian Estelle Patton, the daughter of Thomas McFadden and Frances ("Fannie") M. (Cooke) Patton, born May 31, 1858, in Salem. Her father was a lawyer, the first county judge of Jackson County, and U. S. Consul to Japan. She married John David McCully in Marion County on May 31, 1880. Lillian died December 28, 1929, in Hood River, Oregon.

Eggers, Dr. Albert

Dr. Albert Eggers, music teacher, organized first band in Olympia, Washington (1859-1861). He was born about 1818 in Germany.

Andrew Hurgren, born in about 1828 in Sweden. He was a cabinet maker, living in Portland, in 1860. He was the partial proprietor of Hurgren & Schindler, a furniture and mattress store, located on First Street in downtown Portland.
