Murphy, William and Betsy R. (Roundtree)

William E. and Elizabeth ("Betsy") Richardson (Roundtree) Murphy, who came overland to Oregon from Illinois in 1852, arriving in 1853. They married in Knox County, Illinois, on May 20, 1841. Their sons, William P. (born 1850), Levi Alexander (born 1842), and John Leon (born 1843), Morvan A. (born 1845) were born in Knox County. Once in Oregon, the family resided in Polk County, Oregon, probably near Monmouth. Nancy Ellen (born 1847) and Mary Frances (born 1852) were their only daughters. Their youngest son, A. E., was born in 1856 in Washington Territory.

Palmer, Sarah Ann (Derbyshire)

Sarah Ann Derbyshire, born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, on April 11, 1815. She married Joel Palmer on June 21, 1836, in Bucks County. They came to Oregon in 1845 and settled in Yamhill County, taking a land claim in Dayton. She was renowned for her hospitality, generosity, and social entertaining gifts. They had six children: Melissa, Joeline, William, Emma, John, and Alice. Sarah died December 14, 1891, and is buried in Brookside Cemetery in Dayton.

Pratt, Gertrude Sue

Gertrude Sue Pratt, niece of Warren Taylor, taken August 20, 1879. She was born October 6, 1876, to Irving W. and Sofia (Taylor) Pratt, in Portland. She married Carl P. Jensen in about 1928 and passed away on July 24, 1961. She was an active member of the Oregon Pioneer Association.
