General Arrangement of Shipyard, Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation

A blueprint map of the shipyard for Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation. The Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation was a shipyard managed by Kaiser Shipbuilding Corporation during World War II. The shipyard built Liberty and Victory ships for the U. S. Maritime Commission between 1941 and 1944. The plans are dated Dec. 14, 1944 with revisions noted March 14, 1945. The document is a blueline print mounted on cloth.

Hood Loop drive," and "Map of the best routes in and out of Portland." Relief shown by hachures.

Map of Astoria in 1846 as I remember it, Mr. Burr Osborn

A watercolor sketch map of Astoria, Oregon in 1846. Burr Osborn drew the map from memory in 1913. Osborn served on the USS Shark under the command of Lt. Neil M. Howison. He survived the shipwreck of the Shark near Clatsop Beach on September 10, 1846 and spent several months in Astoria . Copies of his letters sent with the map detailing his reminiscences of the event and his time in Astoria were reprinted in the Oregon Historical Quarterly in 1913, v. 14, no. 4, p. 355-365.

The famous Rogue River Valley, 1910

A bird's-eye view map of the Rogue River Valley in Southern Oregon, featuring Grant's Pass, Oregon. The map is a real estate promotional map painted by Gibson Catlett for the Land Department of the Grants Pass & Rogue River Rail Road. The caption at the bottom center of the map reads, "The Famous Rogue River Valley / The coming Inland Metropolis of Southern Oregon, GRANTS PASS; with its Seventy Thousand acres of unsurpassed apple, peach and diversified farming lands contributory, now being tapped by rail for the first time by the GRANTS PASS & ROGUE RIVER RAILROAD, traversity the already settled APPLEGATE AND WILLIAMS VALLEY, adjacent to which are TWO BILLION STANDING FEET of saw timber, paying gold and copper mines, limestone and marble quarries, and, last but not least, the world renowned Marble Halls, one of the Thousand Wonders." The map is not drawn to scale and relief is shown by shading and pictorially.

A real estate promotional map for the Beach Park addition in Newport, Oregon. It was produced circa 1910 by real estate firms S. G. Irvin and Howard & Cooper to promote the sale of lots in the new subdivision. The document has a map of available lots for purchase on the front. There are photographs and promotional information about tourism and industry in Newport on the front and back of the document.

A real estate promotional map for the Tualatin Valley region of Washington County, Oregon. It was produced circa 1907 by the Investment Company based in Portland, Oregon. The front of the document includes a simple map of the Tualatin Valley showing towns, the course of the Tualatin River, and the routes for railways. The back of the document contains promotional details about climate and commercial development opportunities in the region.

A reproduction of a hand-drawn sketch of the Columbia River by William Clark. The map also indicates camping places on the return journey in April, 1806. Originally issued in volume titled: Atlas accompanying the original journal of the Lewis and Clark expedition, 1804-1806, edited by Reuben Gold Thwaites (New York : Dodd, Mead & Company, 1905). Map 32, pt. 2. Item has also been identified as bb017544.

Map and Short Story of the PNW, Embracing Oregon, Washington and Idaho, 1904

A map of the Pacific Northwest depicting railways and steamship lines in the region, primarily Oregon and Washington. Lines at the top and bottom of the map read, "The Northwest presents the greatest opportunities for settlers of any portion of "Uncle Sam's" domain. For grains, grasses, live stock and minerals the territory embraced in this map is unequalled." The back of the map is a pamphlet titled, "Map and Short Story of the Pacific Northwest embracing Oregon Washington Idaho." The pamphlet contains information about various aspects of the region, including climate, agriculture, mining, lumber, and schools and churches. Inset maps include the route of the Oregon Short Line Railroad and a bird's-eye view of the Lewis and Clark Exposition Grounds.
