The pamphlet contains information about the railroad and its route, various states from Lake Superior to the Pacific Ocean, excursion rates, and general travel information.

The inset maps show Duncan Rock and Cape Flattery, Grays Harbour, Orford Reef, Humboldt Bay, and the entrances to the Umpqua River, the Yaquina River, and the Coos River. Two coastal views are included: Cape Flattery and the entrance to Humboldt Bay. Relief is shown by hachures and spot heights. Depths are shown by soundings in fathoms.

The index to a map showing railroad routes through Oregon in 1891. The included routes are: Astoria & Southern Coast, Northern Pacific, Oregonian, Oregon & Pacific, Oregon & Washington Territory, Portland & Vancouver, Portland & Willamette Valley, Southern Pacific, and Union Pacific railroads. The index includes a listing of towns in the state with their population and a listing of services including post offices, telegraph stations, and railroad stations. This index is no longer attached to the accompanying map which is now G4291.P3 1891 .C72.

Map of Astoria in 1846 as I remember it, Mr. Burr Osborn

A watercolor sketch map of Astoria, Oregon in 1846. Burr Osborn drew the map from memory in 1913. Osborn served on the USS Shark under the command of Lt. Neil M. Howison. He survived the shipwreck of the Shark near Clatsop Beach on September 10, 1846 and spent several months in Astoria . Copies of his letters sent with the map detailing his reminiscences of the event and his time in Astoria were reprinted in the Oregon Historical Quarterly in 1913, v. 14, no. 4, p. 355-365.
