Furrow, Margaret L. (Margaret Lucille), 1913-2001

Margaret Lucille Furrow, nee Mohr, was born in Hood River, Oregon, in 1913. Her grandfather, Peter Mohr, had the first commercial orchard in the area. In the 1930s, she and William Harry Furrow were married; they later had nine children. She worked as a fruit picker and fruit packer for Nakamura Orchards, Inc., in Hood River. She died in 2001.

Galisky, Anne

Anne Galisky (b. 1962) is the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants. She came out in 1985 and was the lead organizer of "For Love and Justice: A Walk Against Hate”, a 2-week march from Eugene to Portland in protest against Measure 9, in 1992. She worked as a carpenter and later co-founded Graham Street Productions and has directed documentaries on immigration and citizenship: “Papers: Stories of Undocumented Youth” (2009) and “14: Dred Scott, Wong Kim Ark & Vanessa Lopez” (2014).

Galton, Sidney

Sidney A. Galton (1947- ) was one of the early members of the Portland Gay Mens' Chorus. Galton worked as a lawyer and a judge after being born and raised in Portland, OR. Galton was instrumental in encouraging then governor Neil Goldschmidt to issue an executive order protecting gay and lesbian state employees from job discrimination.

Sisters Helen Hawkins and Harriet Hawkins were born in Portland, Oregon, in 1904 and 1907, respectively. Helen Hawkins married Robert Waggoner Gamble in 1932. Harriet Hawkins married Robert Cass in 1940, and they later had one child. Helen Hawkins Gamble died in 2000, and Harriet Hawkins Cass died in 2004.

Gange, John F. (John Frederic), 1910-1991

John Frederic Gange was born in Lindsay, California, in 1910. In the early 1930s, he earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford University. In 1937, he and Martha Eugenia Arnold were married. Between 1948 and 1956, he was head of the foreign affairs department at the University of Virginia. He then served as research director and Hong Kong representative of the Asia Foundation. In 1960, he became the director of the Institute of International Studies and a professor of political science at the University of Oregon. He authored and contributed to several publications about U.S. foreign relations. He died in 1991.

Brian Reginald Gant was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, in 1952. From 1974 to 1976, he played soccer for the Vancouver Whitecaps, and from 1977 to 1982, he played for the Portland Timbers. He was a youth coach with F.C. Portland, a soccer club in Portland, Oregon.

Timothy John Gauthier was born in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1958. His father became a police officer at University of California at Santa Barbara, and Gauthier spent most of his childhood in that city. He attended Santa Barbara City College, then transferred Southern Utah State College (now Southern Utah University), where he earned a business degree in 1975. He then began working for the National Electrical Contractors Association in Washington, D.C.; Kansas City, Kansas; and Portland, Oregon. He worked closely with Edward L. Barnes of IBEW Local 48 in Portland, and was involved in the establishment of the Market Recovery Program (M.R.P.) in 1982, which uses union dues to supplement union wages. He married in 1984 and had two children.

Gebreamlak, Milen, 2001-

Milen Gebreamlak was born in Asmara, Eritrea, in 2001. When she was eight years old, her family fled during war with Ethiopia. The family spent a year in refugee camps in Ethiopia, then settled in Addis Ababa. In 2014, the family received refugee status in the United States, and they soon settled in Portland, Oregon. Gebreamlak co-founded the Women's Empowerment Club at Reynolds High School and was involved with Africa House and the Multnomah County Youth Commission.
