Neva Marline Elliott was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1908. After graduating from high school in 1925, she attended Reed College for two years. She then attended the Northwestern College of Law while working as a secretary for Charles Spackman, who ran the school. She earned her law degree in 1935. She met Neil Chinnock while in law school, and they married in 1939. They had no children, and he died in 1954. Elliott was an attorney in Portland from 1935 to 1993 and served as a pro tem judge on the Multnomah County District Court. She died in 2001.

Leona Elizabeth Ellis was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1915. During World War II, she worked as a marine machinist for the Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation. After the war, she worked in payroll for Beall Pipe & Tank until her retirement in 1976. She died in 2000.

Richard "Dick" Charles Erath was born in Alameda, California, in 1935. He grew up in Oakland, California, and in 1949, his family briefly relocated to Seattle, Washington, before returning to Oakland in 1951. After high school, he attended Oakland Junior College and joined the U.S. Naval Reserve, where he went through the Navy electronic technician training program. He then attended the University of California at Berkeley, but did not complete a degree. In 1961, he and Tina J. Butler were married; they later had two children. In 1965, he made his first barrel of wine in his backyard while living in Walnut Creek, California. He studied enology, the science of winemaking, at the University of California at Davis. In 1969, he planted his first grapes in in the Willamette Valley at Erath Winery in Dundee, Oregon. He focused on Pinot noir. He sold his winery, which still bears his name, in 2006.

Erickson, Alice A. (Alice Acenath), 1900-2002

Alice Acenath Erickson, nee Crockett, was born in Nebraska in 1900. When she was 16 years old, her family moved to South Dakota. In 1918, she and Elmer Raymond Spore were married; the couple moved to Idaho and later had four children. Spore died In 1941. That same year, Erickson moved to Portland, Oregon. She worked as a tack welder and a driller in the shipyards during World War II. In 1963, she and Harry Erickson were married. She died in 2002.

Essex, Edith F. (Edith Frances), 1899-1989

Edith Frances Essex, nee Stephenson, was born in Walla Walla, Washington, in 1899. Before 1910, she moved with her family to Portland, Oregon. She later studied drama at the University of Washington in Seattle, and at a university in North Dakota. She then returned to Oregon and taught high school students in Gresham. In 1925, she and James Alma Ormandy were married; they later had two children. Around 1939, she began acting at the Portland Civic Theater. She also wrote plays for children. James A. Ormandy died in 1958, and in 1967, Essex remarried to Freeman Essex. She died in 1989.

Estrada-Herrera, Ruben, 1995-

Ruben Estrada-Herrera was born in Santiago, Cuba, in 1995. His family immigrated to the United States in 2011, and they settled in Portland, Oregon. He earned a bachelor's degree in bio-medical engineering from Warner Pacific University in 2019 and then was an employee of Portland Public Schools.

Etchart, John N. (John Newton), 1945-2017

John Newton Etchart was born in Glasgow, Montana, in 1945. In 1968, he earned a degree from Carroll College in Helena, Montana. That same year, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was discharged in 1971. He studied law at University of San Francisco, but withdrew after two years. In 1975, he and Sarah Fortune Russell were married; they later had one child. In the late 1970s, he earned a master's degree from Eastern Montana College in Billings, then briefly worked as a school counselor. During the 1980s, he served as the inland states coordinator for the Northern Tier Pipeline, as an under-secretary of the Department of Interior under President Ronald Reagan, and as a vice president of Burlington Northern Railroad. From 1993 to 2000, he represented Montana on the Northwest Power Planning Council, and served as council chair for most of that time. He died in 2017.

Evans, Daniel J., 1925-

Daniel Jackson Evans was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1925. He attended the University of Washington, and joined the V-12 Navy College Training Program in 1943. A short time later, he was transferred to an ROTC program at the University of California, Berkeley. After his discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1946, he returned to UW, and earned a bachelor's degree in 1948 and a master's degree in 1949, both in civil engineering. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1953. In 1953, he and Nancy Bell were married; they later had three children. From 1957 to 1965, he represented the 43rd District in the Washington State House of Representatives as a Republican, and was minority leader during his final two terms. He then served as Washington governor from 1965 to 1977. After leaving the governor's office, he served as president of The Evergreen State College in Olympia. He represented Washington on the Northwest Power Planning Council, now known as the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, from 1981 to 1983, and served as the council's first chair. After the death of U.S. Senator Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson in 1983, Evans was appointed by Governor John Spellman to the vacant seat. He served in the Senate from 1983 to 1989.
