McGraw, Noreen Saltveit, 1934-

Noreen Saltveit McGraw, nee Noreen Ann Kelly, was born in 1934. She attended Marylhurst University in 1952, then graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor of science in law degree in 1953. She earned a juris doctorate from the University of Oregon in 1955. She soon entered into law practice in Medford, Oregon, with her father, Edward Cantwell Kelly, who later became a Jackson County Circuit Court judge. During this time, she also served as a municipal judge in Medford from 1957 to 1959. In 1960, she moved to Portland, where she was assistant attorney general with the Oregon Department of Justice under Robert Y. Thornton. That same year, she and fellow lawyer Carl Saltveit were married; they later had four children. She left the attorney general's office in 1966 and re-entered private law practice in Portland. In 1969, she earned a bachelor's degree in Spanish from the Portland State University, and in 1992, a bachelor's degree in French. While in private practice, she also served as a district judge pro tempore from 1972 to 1976. She served on the boards of the Oregon Bar Governors, the Oregon Women Lawyer's Association, and the Multnomah Bar Association. McGraw has been a panel member on the United States Arbitration and Mediation Service, the Portland Arbitration Service, and the Oregon Employee Relations Board. She has served as a reference judge for Multnomah County since 1992.

Sheehan, Riki P. (Fredrica Poster), 1951-

Fredrica "Riki" Poster Sheehan was born in New York in 1951. She earned a bachelor of science degree from Cornell University in 1973. She then moved to Washington, D.C., in order to get a job in government. She began working on U.S. Senator Mark Hatfield's staff as a caseworker in 1974. In 1977, she became one of Hatfield's legislative assistants. In 1980, when Hatfield became chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, she was appointed to its staff.

Barrows, David S. (David Stow), 1935-2014

David Stow Barrows was born in Wisconsin in 1935. His family moved to California in early 1940s, and then to Washington, D.C., after the end of World War II. He attended Willamette University, where his advisor was State Senator Mark Hatfield. Hatfield got Barrows a job as a page in the Oregon House of Representatives, which led him to pursue a career as a lobbyist. He married Pat Gilmore in 1960, his last year of law school; they later had two children. After graduating, he practiced law while working toward his goal of becoming a full-time lobbyist. He subsequently became a lobbyist for the Oregon Savings and Loan League. Barrows died in 2014.

Lusk, Hall Stoner, 1883-1993

Hall Stoner Lusk was born in Washington, D.C., in 1883. He attended Georgetown University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in 1904 and a bachelor of laws degree in 1907. He worked as a law clerk for the D.C. Court of Appeals from 1906 until 1909, when he came to Portland, Oregon, to practice law. In 1914, he and Catherine Emmons, the daughter of his law partner, were married; they later had five children. He served as an assistant U.S. attorney from 1918 to 1920, then returned to private practice. He represented the Society of Sisters, and wrote their brief in the United States Supreme Court case Pierce v. Society of Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, which overturned the 1922 Oregon Compulsory School Bill. Lusk served as a judge on the Multnomah County Circuit Court from 1930 until 1937, when Governor Charles Martin appointed him to the Oregon Supreme Court. Lusk remained on the Supreme Court until 1960, when he briefly served in the United States Senate, filling the vacancy left by Richard L. Neuberger's death. He returned to the Oregon Supreme Court in 1961 and served as a justice pro tempore until 1968. He died in 1983.

Stewart, Loran LaSells, 1911-2005

Loran "Stub" LaSells Stewart was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon, in 1911. He grew up in logging towns in Lane County, except for a few years during World War I, when his family lived in Eugene. He studied forestry engineering at Oregon State University, graduating in 1932. The next year, he began working as a road locating engineer for the U.S. Forest Service in the Willamette National Forest. In 1936, he and Dorothy Elizabeth McDonald were married; they later had two children. He was called to active duty in 1942 and served in China during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to his job at the Forest Service, but left a few months later to work for Pope & Talbot Company. Later that year, he bought out Bohemia Lumber Company, but remained as an engineer for Pope & Talbot until 1950. He was a Republican politician and represented Lane County in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1951 to 1955. He continued to run Bohemia Lumber Company until his retirement in 1976, and he remained on the board until 1991, when the company was bought out by Willamette Industries. He also served on the forestry committee at the Oregon State University Research Laboratory, the Lane County Parks Commission, and the State Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. After his death in 2005, the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department named a park after him. The L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park was opened in Washington County, Oregon, in 2007.

Montgomery, Monte (Finis Firman), 1924-2016

Finis "Monte" Firman Montgomery was born in Oklahoma in 1924. He studied engineering and design at the University of Oklahoma. After graduating, he worked for the Douglas Aircraft Company. In 1943, he and Lois Roberts were married; they later had three children. The year after their marriage, the couple moved to Oregon, and Montgomery worked as an insurance salesman in Eugene. He became involved in numerous civic organizations, as well as the Republican Party. He represented Lane County in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1959 to 1968. He was House minority leader from 1961 to 1963 and speaker from 1965 to 1968. He ran unsuccessfully for Oregon secretary of state in 1968, losing to Clay Myers. After leaving the Legislature, he worked in land development, insurance, and international trade. In 1977, he became executive vice president of the Association of Oregon Loggers. In 1979, he was appointed to the governing board of the State Accident Insurance Fund Corporation by Governor Vic Atiyeh. He resigned from the board in 1983 to create a workers' insurance plan for the Association of Oregon Loggers. In 1986, he was charged with eleven felonies and two misdemeanors, including fraud, related to the insurance plan, and he was found guilty on six counts. Later, Montgomery and his wife moved to Keaau, Hawaii, where he opened a travel business. Montgomery died in 2016.

Davidson, C. Girard (Crowe Girard), 1910-

Crowe Girard "Jebbie" Davidson was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, in 1910. He received his bachelor of arts degree from the Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1930. He earned a law degree from Tulane University in 1933. He served as an attorney for the Tennessee Valley Authority from 1934 to 1937. At the same time, he attended Yale University Law School, earning a juris doctorate in 1936. He subsequently entered private law practice in Lafayette. In 1939, he and Mercedes Hester were married, and in 1940, the couple moved to Oregon, where Davidson worked as a consultant to the Bonneville Power Administration until 1946. He also commuted to Washington, D.C., to serve as Assistant General Counsel of the War Production Board from 1944 to 1945. In 1946, he remained in Washington to serve as assistant secretary of the U. S. Department of the Interior until 1950. He then returned to Portland, Oregon, and practiced law. In 1952, he and Mercedes Hester were divorced, and the next year, he and Joan Kaplan were married. Davidson was active in the Democratic Party, serving as Democratic National Committeeman for Oregon in the 1960s. He and Joan Kaplan divorced in 1967, and later that same year, he and Sylvia Nemer were married. He was appointed to the Oregon Educational Coordinating Council by Governor Vic Atiyeh in 1972 and served as chair from 1974 to 1975. He was also president of the Alaska Lumber Company from 1958 until his death in 1996.

Orlando John Hollis was born in Eugene, Oregon, in 1904. He earned a law degree from the University of Oregon in 1928. While attending law school, he worked at the First National Bank of Eugene. In 1931, he began teaching full-time at the University of Oregon Law School. In 1937, he and Marian Mildred Herbert were married. Hollis served as acting president of the University of Oregon Law School from 1944 to 1945, then as dean from 1945 to 1967. After retiring, he joined the Eugene law firm Cass, Scott, Woods and Smith. He was also active in several civic organizations, including the Eugene Water Board and the Lane County Selective Service Board. He also chaired the Governor's Commission on Judicial Reform from 1971 to 1975. He died in 2000.

Hicks, Loren D. (Loren DeGuire), 1919-2014

Loren DeGuire Hicks was born in Salem, Oregon, in 1919. He attended Willamette University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1942. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army, and he operated hospitals in England and Scotland during World War II. While serving in Scotland, he met Muriel Thomson, and they married in 1947. They later had three children. After Hicks' discharge in 1946, he returned to Willamette University and earned his law degree in 1949. He practiced law in Salem from 1949 to 1957, then served as assistant attorney general from 1957 to 1959, while Mark Hatfield was Oregon secretary of state. After that, until 1965, Hicks served as legal assistant to Hatfield during Hatfield's governorship. He also served as judge on various courts in Oregon beginning in 1960, and as state court administrator from 1972 to 1980, after which he retired. He died in 2014.

A few years later, her family moved to Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Parkrose High School in 2016, and attended Portland Community College. As of 2017, she planned to transfer to Oregon Health & Science University and major in nursing.
