Mary Effie Branin, nee Graham, was born in Edgar, Montana, in 1915. When she was five, her family relocated to Washington. In 1936, she and Fred Branin were married; they later had two children. The couple lived in California until coming to Portland, Oregon, in 1941. Mary Branin worked as a welder for the Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation during World War II. She left the shipyards in 1944. She later worked for the White Stag Company. She died in 1994.

Reta Belle Bixel, nee Rake, was born in Arlington, Washington, in 1916. She opened a bar in Portland, Oregon, before World War II. During the war, she worked in the Kaiser shipyards. In 1963, she and Roy Beverly Bixel (nee Bichsel) were married. She was married several times, and was also known as Reta B. Westerman and Reta B. Anderson. She died in 1983.

Cornella Hill Novak, nee Hill, was born in Ithaca, New York, in 1913. In 1922, she graduated from Utah State University, and in 1939, she earned a master's degree in child development and family life education from the University of Minnesota. She spent much of her career as a child development specialist in Portland, Oregon. She married three times and had five children. At the time of her death in 2003, she was known as Cornella Hill White.

Leah Vogel Hahn, nee Vogel, was born in Portland, Oregon, 1916. In 1934, she and John Hahn were married; they later had two children. She worked in the Kaiser shipyards in Portland, Oregon, from 1942 to 1944. She died in 2019.

Mildred Olive Kane was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1910. She attended Reed College and the Oregon Normal School. While studying for her master's degree in education at Columbia University, she worked as a teacher at the Kaiser Child Service Center on Swan Island. From 1945 to 1946, she taught at a day care center funded by the Lanham Act of 1940 in Vancouver, Washington. She also taught the first grade in Portland Public Schools and was a professor at the Oregon College of Education. She earned a doctorate in education from Columbia University. From 1963 to 1969, she was the director of the Fruit and Flower Mission. Her career also included training preschool teachers in Palestinian refugee camps in the Gaza Strip during the 1970s. She died in 1989.

Anita Warner was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Monmouth, Oregon. She taught school until the start of World War II. In 1943, she came to Portland and worked at the Kaiser shipyards. After the war, she returned to teaching.

Bartholomae, Annette M. (Annette Martha), 1908-1997

Annette Martha Bartholomae, nee Crogster, was born in Milwaukie, Wisconsin, in 1908. Shortly afterward, she was adopted by relatives in Portland, Oregon. She attended Reed College in Portland, and later earned a library science degree from Columbia University in New York. She later worked as a librarian for the Multnomah County Public Library, and as the head librarian for the library of Pocatello, Idaho; a librarian for the U.S. Army's Camp White in Medford, Oregon, during World War II; the social services librarian at Portland State University; and as a librarian in the Oregon Historical Society Research Library. In 1945, she and George Thomson Bartholomae were married. Late in life, she earned a master's degree from Portland State University. She died in 1997.

Costa, Norm (Norman Robert), 1927-

Norman "Norm" Robert Costa was born in Lodi, California, in 1927. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California; San Jose State University; and the University of San Francisco. He came out as gay in 1947. He relocated to Portland, Oregon, in 1958. He owned and operated a hair salon in Lake Oswego from 1961 to 1993. He was a gay rights activist and worked with local health departments on HIV prevention efforts. He also served on the board of the Sexual Minorities Roundtable.

Clara Cecilia Heim, nee Thomas, was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1905. In 1927, Adam Clarence Heim and Clara Cecilia Thomas were married; they later had five children. Clara C. Heim worked for Montgomery Ward & Co., and later worked as a telephone operator. Clara C. Heim died in 1994.

Buse, Zennah M. (Zennah Marguerite), 1904-1994

Zennah Marguerite Buse, nee Lytsell, was born in West Linn, Oregon, in 1904. In 1924, she and Herman Richard Buse were married; they later had five children. She was a member of the West Linn Lutheran Church, West Linn Senior Center, West Linn Garden Club, West Linn Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Sunset Grade School Parent-Teacher Association. She died in 1994.

Sheets, Ed W. (Edward Wendell), 1949-

Edward Wendell "Ed" Sheets was born in Missoula, Montana, in 1949. When he was four, his family relocated to Spokane, Washington, and in 1960, the family relocated to Portland, Oregon. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and a master's degree in communications from the University of Washington. He was special assistant to U.S. Senator Warren Magnuson from 1977 until Magnuson left office in 1981. That same year, he and Ronda Skubi were married. He served as director of the Washington State Energy Office during Governor John Spellman's administration, where he played a role in the creation of the Northwest Power Planning Council, now known as the Northwest Power and Conservation Council. From 1981 to 1995, he served as executive director of the NWPPC. After leaving the council, he started a consulting company, Ed Sheets Consulting.

Van Hevelingen, Frances L. (Frances Lovetta), 1915-2002

Frances Lovetta Van Hevelingen was born in Juneau, Alaska, in 1915. She studied art at the University of Oregon. She was married to Donald Abbott. She specialized in the technique of encaustic painting, which uses hot beeswax mixed with pigments. She died in 2002.

Gebreamlak, Milen, 2001-

Milen Gebreamlak was born in Asmara, Eritrea, in 2001. When she was eight years old, her family fled during war with Ethiopia. The family spent a year in refugee camps in Ethiopia, then settled in Addis Ababa. In 2014, the family received refugee status in the United States, and they soon settled in Portland, Oregon. Gebreamlak co-founded the Women's Empowerment Club at Reynolds High School and was involved with Africa House and the Multnomah County Youth Commission.

Susheela Jayapal was born in Coimbatore, India, in 1962. Her family moved several times, until they settled in Jakarta, Indonesia, where Jayapal completed her high school education. She then attended Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, and in 1983, she earned a bachelor's degree in economics. She then worked at Goldman Sachs in New York City for two years. In 1985, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where she attended the University of Chicago Law School. After earning her degree in 1988, she practiced law in San Francisco, California. Also in 1988, she and Bradley Stuart Miller were married; they later had two children, and divorced in 2014. In 1994, she and her family relocated to Portland, Oregon, and she worked as a lawyer for Adidas until 2000. She worked for various non-profit organizations, and in 2018, she was elected a Multnomah County commissioner from District 2, becoming the first Indian American to be elected to public office in Oregon.

Kye, Joe (Joseph Hyon), 1987-

Joseph Hyon Kye was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1987. When he was six years old, his family relocated to the United States, first living in Boston, Massachusetts, before settling in Seattle, Washington, a few years later. In 2009, he earned a bachelor's degree in American cultural studies from Yale University. He taught English in San Francisco, California, and in Redmond, Washington, then decided to pursue a career as a musician. In 2012, he and Natasha K. Kye were married, and the couple settled in Sacramento, California. In 2016, they relocated to Portland, Oregon. Kye gave music lessons through Brave Youth Orchestras and played shows with his band, Joe Kye and the Givers.

Luna, Liliana, 1990-

Liliana Luna was born in Mexico City, Mexico, in 1990. She grew up in Michoacán and Nuevo Laredo, and in 2005 her family came to Portland, Oregon. In 2008, her status as an undocumented immigrant prevented her from pursuing a bachelor's degree. She took classes at Portland Community College and was elected student body president. She was active with Oregon Dream Activists, which advocates for undocumented immigrants. After President Barack Obama enacted the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, she enrolled at Portland State University. In 2014, she earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, and in 2019, she earned a master's degree in marriage and family therapy/counseling. She served as Retention and Multicultural Center Coordinator at Portland Community College beginning in 2014, and in 2021 she became development and executive director at Esperanza Wellness Center in Cornelius, Oregon.
