Mackenzie, Barbara A. (Barbara Amanda), 1905-2002

Barbara Amanda Mackenzie, nee Tudor, was born in Colorado in 1905. She grew up in Sutherlin, Oregon, and later attended St. Mary's Academy and Lincoln High School in Portland. She earned a teaching degree from the Oregon Normal School (now known as Western Oregon University). In 1926, she and Thomas T. Mackenzie were married; they later had two children. Mackenzie was director of the U.S. government project that relocated Native Americans displaced by the construction of The Dalles Dam in eastern Oregon and Washington state. She also worked as a teacher in California and Oregon, working primarily with marginalized populations, and as a caseworker for the Red Cross in Arlington, Virginia. Barbara Mackenzie died in 2002.

Bracy, Tim (Timothy Ford), 1944-2014

Timothy Ford Bracy was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1944. He was a lieutenant in the Portland Police Bureau from 1967 to 1977 and joined Portland General Electric in 1978, starting as a security supervisor and becoming manager of Health and Safety Services in 1981. He died in 2014.

Samuel Rodney Christensen was born in Hillsboro, Oregon, in 1928. He earned degrees in business and engineering from Oregon State University. In 1953, he and Greta Ann Olsen were married; they later had three children. He joined Portland General Electric in 1956 as an engineer, ultimately working his way up to general manager of Generation & Facilities Engineering. In 1985, he and Roxie June O'Brien were married. He died in 2009.

Jill Wissler Eiland, nee Jill A. Wissler, was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1951. In 1973, she earned a bachelor's degree in business from Oregon State University. She pursued a career in politics and worked on the staff of Senator Bob Packwood in Washington, D.C. In 1981, she earned a master's degree in business administration from George Washington University. In 1982, she joined Portland General Electric as director of federal affairs, and continued to work in Washington, D.C., lobbying Congress for PGE. She returned to Oregon in 1985, and in 1990, she became director of public affairs for PGE. From 1994 to 1997, she served as vice president and managing partner for The Rockey Company. From 1997 to 2006, she was senior director of government relations for Kindercare Learning Centers. In 2004, she joined the Knowledge Learning Corporation as vice president of corporate communications. In 2006, she became public affairs director for the Intel Corporation in the Northwest Region. In 2017, she joined Gallatin Public Affairs as a managing partner and became senior counsel in 2020.

Olmstead, C. Arthur (Clyde Arthur), 1939-

Clyde Arthur Olmstead was born in Yakima, Washington, in 1939. He joined Portland General Electric as a maintenance supervisor in 1976, becoming the general plant manager for the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant in 1987.

Zakhour "Zaki" Joseph Kahl was born in Amar, Syria, in 1925. He immigrated to the United States in 1963. He ran a carpeting business, Kahl International, with his brothers in Portland, Oregon. He died in 2017.

Silvertooth, John A. (John Addison), 1885-1972

John Addison Silvertooth was born in Antelope, Oregon, in 1885. In 1909, he and Laura Elizabeth Stocker were married; they later had two children. He owned several businesses in Antelope, including the Idle Hours Tavern, the Silvertooth Store, a barbershop, and a museum. His museum was destroyed in a 1964 fire. He also served as Antelope mayor, town clerk, and justice of the peace. He died in 1972.

Lorna Mae Grabe, nee Dohrer, was born in Iowa City, Iowa, in 1928. She attended Iowa City High School and taught school for a few years. In 1950, she and Don Grabe were married; they later had three children. In 1968, the couple moved to Corvallis, Oregon, where Grabe studied art at Linn-Benton Community College. She became involved in the Soap Creek Schoolhouse Foundation, which was formed to preserve the Soap Creek Schoolhouse. The schoolhouse is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. She died in 1993.

Stearns, Howard C. (Howard Cecil), 1900-1985

Howard Cecil Stearns was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1900. During World War I, he served in the Merchant Marines. He earned a master's degree in entomology from Oregon State University in 1924, and in 1929 he graduated from the University of Oregon Medical School. He was a member of the University of Oregon faculty for 13 years, and in 1945, he was appointed chair of the obstetrics and gynecology department of the University of Oregon Medical School, now Oregon Health & Science University. He also operated his own medical practice in addition to serving on the university faculty. He served as president of the Legacy Emanuel Hospital medical staff, as a trustee of the Medical Research Foundation, as president of the University of Oregon Medical School Alumni Association, and as vice president of the American Academy of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Stearns married twice. He and Mary Louise Wiley were married in 1928; they later had three children. Mary Louise Stearns died in 1969, and in 1971, Howard C. Stearns and Rosella M. Arlick were married. Stearns died in 1985.

Marriott, Sherman G. (Sherman Geertson), 1899-1996

Sherman Geertson Marriott was born in Logan, Utah, in 1899. In 1925, he and Afton Romney were married; they later had one child. He ran drive-in restaurants in several states, and came to Oregon in 1936. In 1938, he and Horace Williams opened Tik Tok Drive In in Portland. They sold the restaurant in 1957. He died in 1996.

Yaw, Steven P. (Steven Page), 1946-2017

Steven Page Yaw was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1946. He was the grandson of W.P. Yaw, the founder of Yaw's Top Notch. He ran the restaurant until its closure in 1985. He continued in the restaurant business and attempted to revive Yaw's Top Notch in 2012. He died in 2017.
